Bringing light into a dark house, Lewes Completion 2017
Highly Commended in the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards 2018
Sometimes a loft conversion can create all sorts of opportunities. Creating a new staircase up to the attic in this 1930s semi-detached house in the Lewes Conservation Area was our chance to make the most of the existing features, to open up the first floor landing, expose a lovely little dormer previously hidden away, and bring light from the sky through two new conservation rooflights. The limited palette of materials and colours, together with the clean flowing lines of the new staircase and balustrade, create a zen-like atmosphere in the heart of the house.
